THE FIRST STEP IN PROFESSIONAL WOOD FINISHING

Many softwoods, particularly pine, have a tendency to absorb stain unevenly. Minwax® Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner is specifically designed for use before staining new or bare softwood surfaces. It penetrates the grain of the wood to promote uniform acceptance of stain. Treating the surface with Minwax® Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner helps prevent streaking and blotching to help ensure a beautiful, even stain. To determine if you are working with softwood, press your fingernail against a hidden section of the wood. If you make a dent, the wood is soft and probably needs conditioning to help avoid an uneven stain color.

DIRECTIONS:

1. Apply before staining on clean, raw wood, using a brush or cloth.
2. Allow to penetrate for 5 to 15 minutes, then remove excess with clean, dry cloth.
3. The stain should be applied within two hours of application of Minwax® Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner. For best results, stain with Minwax® Wood Finish™, Minwax® Polyshades®, or Minwax® Woodsheen®.

Note: For long-lasting protection, complete your project with Minwax® Fast-Drying Polyurethane or Minwax® Polycrylic® Protective Finish.
